Avon Lake is a city in northeastern Lorain County, Ohio, United States, located on the southern shore of Lake Erie about 17 miles west of Cleveland and is on the centerline of totality for the 2024 Solar Eclipse.  With over 220 acres of parkland, the City of Avon Lake is offering spectacular views and opportunities to experience nearly 4 minutes of totality on April 8, 2024.

Miller Road Park is located on the west end of Avon Lake on the shore of Lake Erie on bike-friendly Lake Road (U.S. 6) and offers many things to many people. 
 
On top of a tree-lined bluff is a 14.7-acre park with a pavilion, gazebo, playground, bathrooms and wide-open areas suitable for children to run and play.  Visitors can walk along the lake side paved trail or sit on one of several park benches and enjoy the Lake Erie views. Picnic tables and grills are available making the destination a popular spot for family gatherings. 

The park features a fishing pier which is open year-round.  Please review Ohio Department of Natural Resources for fishing rules and regulations.

This is the largest community park in Avon Lake with approximately 79 acres. Weiss Field offers a variety of recreational activities that are free and open to the public. There is a playground, basketball court, eleven ball fields, bike and skate park, horse arena, walking trails, pavilions, dog park, and restrooms.

*Parking permits will not be issued to boats, trailers, commercial vehicles, etc.   
 
The Parking Permit Registration/Application must be completed and approved by the Recreation Department.  If approved, the Recreation Department will notify the applicant that their registration/application has been approved.  All fees must be paid at the time of registration.   
 
The actual Parking Permit will be issued to the applicant upon their arrival to the designated park/parking space.  The Parking Permit will only be issued to the registered person and vehicle.   
 
Registration/Permit Rental Fee - All reservations are valid April 6-9 the fee is not per day. Pay 1 fee and stay up to 3 nights around your travel schedule! 
-Miller Road Park RV Parking –$375 per space 
-Weiss Field RV Parking –  $300 per space 
-Weiss Field Parking/Camping – $150 per space

Each Rental Includes:

-1 overnight parking space for a minimum 3-night stay including Saturday, April 6, 2024 through Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Check-in begins Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 12:00 pm.  Check-out on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 by 12:00 pm. 
-A great viewing area including a certified pair of eclipse glasses for each attendee identified on the application.
-24-hour security with in and out privileges.
-Accessible shuttle loop around Avon Lake including local restaurants and shops on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. Tickets sold separately. 

Rental Terms:
-Must be 18 years of age and older to register
-The permit is only valid for the dates and times listed; i.e. Saturday, April 6, 2024 to Tuesday, April 9, 2024 and is good for 1 designated parking space.
-Must park in the assigned space you are directed to.
-Boondocking – no connections to water, electricity, or sewer.
-Wastewater may not be discharged into the public system at any location other than a licensed discharge station
-Please be mindful of safety around stairs, tips-outs and slide-outs that could obstruct other park visitors
-Dogs are permitted and must be kept on a leash at all times. Dog waste must be picked up immediately by the owner and placed in the trash cans as set forth in Section 660.03 regarding littering. 
-Parking Permit is non-transferable
-No consumption of alcohol on park premises
-No Campfires
-No Smoking
-No Fireworks

Cancellation & Refund Policy:
-Full refund for cancellations 90 days in advance
-50% refund for cancellations 60 days in advance
-No Refund for any cancellation made within 60 days of the event

All park visitors shall comply with all park rules.  Below is a partial list of park rules as outlined in section 1070.02 of the codified ordinances of the City of Avon Lake, Ohio.  A full list of the rules can be found on the City’s website at www.avonlake.org.
