Junior Shoregals Basketball
The Avon Lake Recreation Department is excited to offer a new Junior Shoregals Program for the 2026-2027 Season!
All participants will receive a branded reversible jersey and shorts.
Locations
Games and practices may take place at the Anchor Recreational Facility or Avon Lake City School Gyms
Practice Schedule
• Practices begin the week of November 16, 2026
• Grades 3–4: Practice once per week.
• Grades 5–8: May practice up to two times per week depending on gym
availability.
• Practice days and times for Grades 3–8 are determined by coach availability and
are typically held Monday through Friday between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m
Game Schedule
• Games are played on Saturdays beginning December 5, 2026, and
ending February 6, 2027.
• Playoffs are Saturday, February 13 and Saturday, February 20, 2027.
• Game times and locations vary based on gym availability.

Volunteers Needed
Our programs rely on parent volunteers to serve as head or assistant coaches.
If you're interested in volunteering, please indicate “Yes” during registration.
No coaching experience is necessary training and resources are provided for practice planning and team management.
Please note: The number of teams and the timing of season information may depend on the number of volunteers at the time of registration.
If you do plan on coaching, please save the date of our coaches meeting on January 10th at 9am!
Team Placement
- Teams are divided equally by grade.
- Whole teams will not be accepted.
- Player requests may be submitted, but are not guaranteed.
Registration Details
- Registration Open: September 1 – October 31
- Late Registration: Based on availability and may include a late fee.
Important Facility Reminder
To maintain clean and safe gymnasiums, players must carry in their basketball shoes and change into them upon arrival.
