Travel Baseball Tryouts - 8U Travel Baseball Tryouts Travel Baseball Tryouts - 2026 All players — both current and new — must attend tryouts to be eligible for a travel baseball team. No exceptions will be made for players who do not attend tryouts, regardless of reason. Tryout eligibility is based on the player's age as of May 1, 2026. Please register your child for the appropriate age group, as all participants will be evaluated at that level. Please note that tryout dates and times vary by age group. 8U players will be evaluated by the Avon Lake Head Varsity Baseball Coach and his staff. All other evaluations will be run by the travel baseball volunteer coaches. Avon Lake residents will be given priority consideration. Non-residents may be considered depending on league rules and available roster spots. Travel teams typically compete in the Cuyahoga Valley Baseball Association (CVBA) or Ohio Prospects League (OPL). Teams also participate in a variety of weekend tournaments throughout the season. Home games are played at Bleser Park and/or Weiss Field. Teams have access to Anchor Recreation Facility for indoor practices from January through March/April. There is a possibility of two teams per age group, depending on the number of qualified participants. Roster sizes will vary. All players — new and returning — must attend tryouts to be considered for a team.Player registration fees paid to the Recreation Department are based on the number of players on each team. The registration fee typically ranges from $300 to $350 per player. Player registration fees include indoor practices at the Anchor Recreational Facility, league fees, insurance, game balls, and up to 12 home games with certified umpires. Head coaches and teams may seek additional funding and/or fund raise for team helmets, bat bags, apparel, additional indoor practices, tournament fees, and other additional items specifically for your team. Head coaches will contact their team directly in regards to any additional funding including uniforms. Volunteer Coaches Needed The success of our baseball program relies heavily on dedicated volunteers. We may need volunteer coaches at all age levels. Our goal is to form two teams per age group, which is only possible with sufficient coaching support. If you are interested in coaching, please indicate your interest during registration, or contact the Avon Lake Recreation Department at 440-930-4130. Your time and commitment make a big difference for our players and the program as a whole — thank you for considering!

Travel Baseball Tryouts - 13U Travel Baseball Tryouts Travel Baseball Tryouts - 2026 All players — both current and new — must attend tryouts to be eligible for a travel baseball team.
