Travel Baseball Tryouts

Fall Ball
Tryouts for the 2025 season are here!  

All participants, both current and new, wishing to play on a travel team MUST attend tryouts.  Any player not attending tryouts for any reason will not be eligible to participate on a travel team.   

Travel is based on a players age as of May 1. 

Please register your child for their appropriate age level.  All participants are to be evaluated at their appropriate age level.

Avon Lake residents will be given first consideration.  Non-residents may be considered based on league rules.  

Teams typically participate in the Cuyahoga Valley Baseball Association (CVBA) or Ohio Prospects League (OPL) and may participate in a variety of tournaments throughout the season.  Home game are played at Bleser Park and/or Weiss Field.  Teams have access to the Anchor Recreation Facility for indoor practice from January through March/April.  

Two teams may be formed for any age level based on the number of qualified evaluated participants.  Roster sizes may vary.  All current and new players are required to tryout in order to be considered for a roster.

PLEASE NOTE: If you cannot attend please still register for your age group. Any additional dates will be TBD but everyone is strongly encouraged to show up on the original dates. 


7U & 8U AGE GROUP REGISTRATION GUIDELINES - IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW TO HELP WITH QUESTIONS REGARDING REGISTERING YOUR CHILD AT THE YOUNGER AGES:

7U Lorain County Hot Stove (Coach/Kid Pitch) - All kids entering 1st grade should register for 7U. Avon Lake Recreation and volunteer coaches can consider recommending some players remain at the 7U level if age appropriate and for a players development rather than moving up to 8U.  If entering 1st grade - this Hot Stove League is for players ages 7-8 born on or between May 1, 2017 and April 30, 2018.

8U CVBA (Kid Pitch) - All 2nd graders or kids who participated in 7U the previous season should register for 8U unless the Recreation Department or your 7U coach recommends you stay at the 7U Hot Stove level and developmental purposes and age appropriateness.

This structure ensures optimal development, providing each child with the opportunity to progress at a beneficial rate before reaching 9U and beyond.  We understand there may be exceptions due to birth date or lack of participation in travel baseball the previous year.  Question please contact the Recreation Department at 440-930-4130.



THE BASEBALL PROGRAM RELIES ON VOLUNTEERS.  VOLUNTEER COACHES MAY BE NEEDED FOR ALL LEVELS.  OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE 2 TEAMS AT EACH AGE GROUP.  PLEASE INDICATE YOUR INTEREST IN COACHING AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION OR CONTACT THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT AT 440-930-4130.
