Inclement Weather Cancellation Policy
 
The safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities. Below is our inclement weather cancellation policy:
 
 
Avon Lake City Schools Closure
  • All Recreation Department activities at school facilities and the Old Firehouse Senior Center will be canceled.
  • Activities at the Anchor Recreational Facility may be delayed or canceled; updates will be provided through the communication channels listed below.
 
Avon Lake City Schools Delayed Opening
  • Recreation Department activities at school facilities, the Old Firehouse Senior Center, and the Anchor Recreational Facility will proceed as scheduled unless otherwise indicated.

For information on closures, delays, and updates:
  • Visit avonlake.org
  • Follow the Recreation Department’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/AvonLakeRec
  • Monitor local radio and TV stations.
  • Sign up for Alert Avon Lake at www.Avonlake.org/alert to receive emergency, weather, and public service alerts.
  • Text ALREC to 440-259-6412 to receive updates about sports programs, field conditions, and Recreation programs.
 
Additional Notes
  • Activity statuses for all recreation activities, including pool and athletic field conditions, will be monitored by staff. Updates will be communicated promptly through the channels above.
  • In case of unexpected weather events during activities, staff will follow established safety protocols to ensure everyone's well-being.
