Explore an underwater scene from the perspective of the ocean floor using mixed media materials like oil and soft pastels as well as acrylic paint.Week 3: June 30 Close-up oil pastel animal eyes or fruit slicesExplore the vivid buttery media choice of oil pastels as you explore the bright colors of fruit or animal eyes. Choose your subject based on your comfort and drawing level and let Christine show you how to blend the pastels and layer the colors.Week 4: July 7 Louis Comfort Tiffany Watercolor PaintingsLearn how to break up a drawing into smaller geometric and organic shapes and blend markers by adding water in this workshop that explores the beauty of stained glass design. Add glitter glue to the black lines for a final touch.Week 5: July 14 School of Fish PrintmakingDesign your own fish “stamp” and create a colorful underwater scene by layering the fish in the composition to suggest movement. Extension: Experiment with radial crayon rubbing designs.Week 6: July 21 Clay Sea CoralExplore the basics of clay hand-building with this workshop where you create a sea floor mound complete with coral and a sea star.Week 7: July 28 Aaron Douglas Monochromatic LandscapeExplore how to create depth using value with a step-by step composition, or use a provided photo reference and guidance to create your own composition while working with acrylic paint.
