Avon Lake Summer Day Camp

Looking for a fun, active, and inspiring summer experience for your children? Look no further! Summer Day Camp offers a convenient way for kids to stay engaged and active throughout the summer. Our program offers engaging activities, including visits to the city’s parks, library, pool, and exciting field trips. Each week features a new integrated theme that combines art, nature, and movement! You can rest easy knowing that our camp is led by certified teachers and staff, all trained in CPR and first aid, ensuring your children are well cared for.

Registration opens Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 9am for Avon Lake residents.  If any spots remain, non-residents registration opens Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 9am. Space is limited so reserve your spot today! Non-refundable deposit of $100 per week due at time of registration. Final payment for ALL weeks due by Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Cost per child: $300 resident/$325 non-resident per week.

6 Week Discount - $120 off ($20/week) for registering for all 6 weeks. Any adjustments to full enrollment will eliminate the qualification for the discount.

Who: Children ages 6-10 as of 6/15/2026.  Five-year-olds who have completed kindergarten may be considered. Please reach out to ALREC@avonlake.org prior to the start of registration.

NEW LOCATION: Our base camp and pick-up/drop-off location will now be the Avon Lake Community Center (formerly Erieview Elementary) 32630 Electric Blvd. Camp activities will also take place at various satellite locations, including the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center, Avon Lake Public Library, and city parks.

Transportation by Avon Lake City School buses.

  • Pool Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays 
  • Field Trips: Wednesdays and Fridays 
For destinations within 1 mile, campers will walk under the supervision of camp staff. Avon Lake City School buses will be used for field trips.

NEW Flexible Drop Off/Pick Up Times included in cost per camper.  9:00am – 4:00pm will be the main programmed camp time, before and after care will have more free play activities.

NOTE:  If a week is full when you register, please sign up for the FREE waitlist.  We do get families who cancel closer to the time full payment is due the end of May.  We will email the families on the wait list in the order they signed up if a spot opens.

Week 1: June 15 – 19 – Move It! Adventure & Action Week
Get ready to jump, climb, run, and play! This week is all about staying active, building confidence, and burning off energy in exciting ways.  

This action-packed week features thrilling field trips to Adrenaline Monkey, where campers take on an indoor ninja-style obstacle course, and Sky Zone Trampoline Park, where they’ll bounce, flip, and fly in a safe, supervised environment.

Week 2: June 22 – June 26 – Wild About Animals!

Get ready for a week of furry friends, roaring dinosaurs, and amazing animal discoveries! Wild About Animals! invites campers to explore animals from around the world, from prehistoric creatures to the animals we care for today.

Campers will visit the Zoo to observe animals in their habitats and learn what makes each species unique. A trip to the Natural History Museum will take us back in time to discover dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals along with those in our local habitat. A local animal educator will bring farm animals to camp, giving campers the chance to safely pet, observe, and learn how animals are cared for up close.

Week 3: June 30 – July 2 (only 4 days) – America 250 – Stars, Stripes & Splashes
Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with a week of history, teamwork, and summertime fun! Stars, Stripes & Splashes brings American stories to life through hands-on activities, cooperative games, and refreshing water play.

Campers will take a special field trip to the USS COD Submarine, exploring naval history and learning what life was like aboard a real submarine. Back at camp, children will enjoy patriotic crafts, classic American games, and water-based challenges inspired by teamwork, service, and summer celebrations—perfect for a fun-filled 4-day week.

Week 4: July 6 - 10 – Tech Trek – Games, Gadgets & Innovation
Get ready for a week where technology meets teamwork, creativity, and movement! During Tech Trek – Games, Gadgets & Innovation, campers will explore how games and technology work —without being stuck on screens all day.

Tech Trek encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration in a fun, active setting. Campers will learn that technology isn’t just something you play—it’s something you create, explore, and understand.
Field Trips:  W 7/8 - Main Event & F 7/10 - Activate Games

Week 5: July 13 – 17 – Farm to Table
Where does our food come from? During Farm to Table Week, campers explore the journey food takes from the farm to our plates. Through visits to Quarry Hill Orchard and Lake Metroparks Farmpark, children will see crops growing, meet farm animals, and learn how farmers care for the land.

Back at camp, campers enjoy hands-on activities, simple cooking projects, and creative crafts that promote healthy eating, teamwork, and appreciation for nature—all while keeping learning fun and delicious!

Week 6: July 20 – 24 – Last Splash of Summer
Let’s end summer camp with a splash! Last Splash of Summer is a week full of water play, outdoor fun, and celebration as we soak up the final days of summer together.

Campers will enjoy a special field trip aboard the Goodtime III, cruising on Lake Erie while learning about the water, boats, and the Cleveland skyline. Back at camp, children will cool off with splash-filled games, beach-inspired crafts, and classic summer activities designed to wrap up the season on a high note. The week will conclude with a fun and relaxed End-of-Summer Picnic at Bleser Park, giving campers a chance to celebrate friendships, play together, and reflect on their favorite camp memories.

This joyful, laid-back week is all about fun, friendship, and finishing summer strong.

Do the above fees include the cost of field trips? 
Yes, they do! Should your child not attend a field trip for any reason, we cannot issue you a refund. Final camper counts are sent out to the organizations we visit well in advance. Additionally, if you opt out of a field trip you will not be permitted to attend camp that day as all staff attend every field trip.
 
Refund Policy: 100% refunds, minus any non-refundable deposits, will be issued if the registrant cancels their registration four or more weeks before the start of a class or program.  50% refunds, minus any non-refundable deposits, will be issued if the registration is cancelled less than four weeks before the start of a class or program. Refunds are not offered to registrants after the first day of camp 6/15 without written documentation of extenuating circumstances.

Camp Shirts:  For identification and safety purposes, camp shirts must be worn EVERY day. One FREE camp shirt is included for each week that you register for.  If you would like to purchase additional shirts for your convenience, please do so during online registration for $10 each.  These shirts will also be worn in the pool. They are high-quality 100% polyester dri-fit shirts.  If you have previous year's shirts that still fit and do not want additional shirts, please reach out to ALREC@AvonLake.org
 
SAVE THE DATE:  Meet & Greet - Wednesday, June 10th at 6:00pm at the NEW Avon Lake Community Center (Erieview
) 32630 Electric Blvd.  Parents and campers are invited for a presentation to learn more about camp and meet the counselors.  Camp t-shirts will be available for pickup.  If you cannot attend the Meet & Greet, your shirt can be picked up on the first day of camp.
