This summer we are offering art classes for resident adults 55 and over.  We have 7 sessions to offer using various techniques of drawing, painting, and collage as listed below. All materials will be provided you just need to show up and let your creativity to run wild.  

Cost:  $10 per session
Age: 55 and up
Dates: June 13th - August 1st (excluding 7/4)
Day: Tuesdays
Time: 12:30pm - 2:00 pm

June 13th: Watercolor Workshop
Class description:
Resist Paper Prints / Painting bubbles / Watercolor Resist
Learn how to design and print your one-of-a-kind inspirational watercolor prints using water,
water-based markers and a ziploc bag. Paint ethereal bubbles using circular templates.
Use rubber cement as a resist tool for a delicate water-color design.

June 20th: Sharpie Workshop
Class description:
Sharpie Tie-Dye/ Sharpie and rubbing alcohol-activated landscape canvas
Use Sharpies and rubbing alcohol as a solvent to blur and blend the colors in these projects that
require planning ahead, and then losing control for beautiful process art.

June 27th: Drawing Pets with Pencil
Class description:
Bring a photograph of your favorite pets and learn how to use basic shapes and lines to map out
the drawing. Then, use shading techniques to add form and texture to your pet portrait. *Animal
photographs provided for those without pets.

July 4th:
 No Class

July 11th: Abstract Art Techniques
Class description:
Finger Painting with Acrylic Paint/ Using Q-tips and negative space/ Using squeegees/
Learn color theory behind an abstract art project, and map out your own abstract designs by
blending and layering colors with various unconventional tools.

July 18th: Collage and Crayon Landscapes
Class description:
Plan a composition based on a landscape of your choice, finding shapes to fill the foreground,
middle ground and background. Use torn colored paper to recreate the scene, then add
highlights and contrast with crayon or oil pastel.

July 25th: Playing with Food Printmaking/Painting Workshop
Class description:
Create a unique artwork using natural textures like onions, celery, citrus fruits, leaves, & broccoli
to assist you in your designs.
 
August 1st: Landscape Painting
Class description:
Use various techniques and tools to create a relaxing landscape painting of the forest.
