Dark Skies, Bright Kids
Join us for an unforgettable night of astronomical exploration that the whole family will love! Kids will embark on an exciting journey of discovery and imagination as they explore the planets. From the fiery surface of Venus to the icy rings of Saturn, children will learn about the unique features of each planet, sparking their curiosity and sense of wonder about the universe.
Engaging activities, such as crafting and interactive planetarium shows, will help them visualize and connect with the vastness of space. Through this experience, children will not only grasp important scientific concepts but also develop a lifelong passion for astronomy, inspiring dreams of future adventures among the stars.

In February 2025, you’ll have the chance to observe some amazing visible planets, including Mars, Venus, and Jupiter—perfect for stargazing and learning more about our cosmic neighbors!
Local astronomical societies will showcase a variety of telescopes, laser pointers, experiments from the International Space Station, and even an inflatable planetarium. Plus, enjoy space-themed crafts! "Dark Skies, Bright Kids" will take place rain or shine!

Who: Fun for all ages!

The StarLab, our inflatable planetarium, has limited capacity, and pre-registration is required to attend. A registered adult must accompany any young children visiting the StarLab to ensure everyone has a great time. Be sure to register for your children and at least one adult per group. We highly recommend registering in advance, as spots for the StarLab will fill up quickly.
This event is presented by the City of Avon Lake Parks & Recreation Department in collaboration with Space Systems Consulting, LLC, Black River Astronomical Society, and local astronomer Suzie Dills with StarryTrails.

No registration is needed to attend the event, only if you wish to visit the StarLab.

Registration for Avon Lake Residents December 30th at 9am.
Non-Resident Registration begins January 7th at 9am if spots are open.
