Avon Lake Boat Club Presents The Spring Fishing Derby

This event is made possible by the Avon Lake Boat Club in partnership with Avon Lake Recreation Department, Ohio Division of Wildlife, Erie Outfitters, and Cabela’s.

Join Us for the Spring Fishing Derby – A Fun-Filled Day for Kids!
WHEN: Saturday, May 3rd, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
WHERE: Walker Road Park, 31621 Walker Road, Avon Lake
WHO: Kids age 15 and under
COST: FREE! (Pre-registration required)

Get ready for an unforgettable day of fishing and fun at our annual Spring Fishing Derby! This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to reel in exciting catches like Trout, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, BIG Catfish, and more!

Why You’ll Love It:
  • Keep Your Catch: All Trout can be taken home for a delicious dinner! Plus, Avon Lake Boat Club members will be on hand to clean the Trout for you. (All other fish must be released.)
  • Competition Fun: Measuring stations around the pond will track catches, and the leaderboard will be updated throughout the event.
  • Awesome Prizes: Compete for prizes in two age categories: Under 10 and Ages 10-15.
  • Free Food: Enjoy FREE pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, and drinks courtesy of the Avon Lake Boat Club (while supplies last).
  • Fishing Gear Provided: Bring your own pole and gear, or borrow one of the limited poles available on a first-come, first-served basis. Erie Outfitters will provide nightcrawlers to help you land the big one!
Event Schedule:
  • 10:00 am: Check-in
  • 10:30 am: Fishing competition begins
  • 12:30 pm: Competition ends, and winners announced shortly after

The Fishing Derby will happen rain or shine, but may be canceled in severe weather. Stay updated on the day of the event by checking the Avon Lake Parks & Recreation Department’s Facebook Page.
