News: Seasonal Employment
The Avon Lake Parks and Recreation Department is seeking 2020 summer employees.
Positions available are for lifeguards, field attendants, and playground attendants for our Greenbox program. All applicants must be 15 years of age or older. We are also searching for the following positions:
- Recreation Park Attendants:Part-time, $9/hr. based on experience
Under the direction of the Recreation Program Manager, the Park Attendant provides assistance and direction to park visitors and promotes safety in our parks. He/she will also be an integral part of our Fishing with Friends program. Fishing experience preferred but not required. He/she will assist with special events and regular programming including the Summer Concert Series, summer camp, a Discover Scuba course, and more. This job is ideal for a recent high school grad or college student home for the summer. Those pursuing a degree in Parks & Recreation, Biology, Environmental Sciences or a related degree are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a seasonal position (May through August). Please note that this is a position primarily located outdoors in our parks. Start and end dates are negotiable. Starting at $9/hr., based on experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
-18 years or older with previous customer service experience
-Leadership, good judgement and problem-solving skills
-An interest in recreation and natural resources
-Ability to maintain constant observation of an assigned area and to note any sign of impending trouble that may escalate into a dangerous situation
-Current First Aid/CPR Certification
- Summer Camp Counselors (Must be a Certified Teacher.)
- Junior Summer Camp Counselor (18 and over with an interest in the education field.)
